2010 OUTPOST GOLD PROSPECTING TRIPS With gold prices hovering around $1100. per oz., a lot of folks have been thinking about going out to the hills to find some of their own. But most don’t even know how to pan for gold, the final step of all gold recovery. A number of people have asked if we could lead some hands-on field trips to show them how to sluice & pan for gold in streams, or metal detect nuggets, or in the dry season to go drywashing. | 1st ANNUAL OUTPOST SHOOTOUT Co-sponsored by A.V.T.H.S. & the Outpost 9am -5pm Sat. Sept. 25th at the Outpost, 34141 116th St. E. Pearblossom, CA. The shootout is a day long event for those in the metal detecting hobby, veteran & newbie’s, and anyone interested in learning more about detecting & treasure hunting. There will be displays of metal detected treasures & information on detectors & the A.V.T.H.S. club. Demonstrations will be given to those interested in learning more. The featured events of the day are planted coin & token hunts where participants compete to find as many targets as possible in a set time. Some are free & some require a fee to enter. The fees collected go into the coins & prizes for the fields to be planted. In addition The Outpost & other sponsors will add more coins & prizes to the hunts. 9am- 9:25: The day will start with sign-ups for the hunts for anyone who has not pre-paid. 9:30-9:50: First will be a Lil’ Kids Hunt (free) for kids 9 & under. 10-10:20: Next up is the Junior Coinshooter Hunt for kids 10-15 ($5.00). Both kids hunts will have clad coins, foreign coins, tokens, toys, kids jewelry, wheat cents, & buffalo nickels. Cool treasure! 11am-11:30: The first adult hunt will be the warm-up hunt with clad coins, tokens for prizes, & keys for sodas. (FREE)*w/sign-up in any paid hunt/$5.00 otherwise. 11:30-12:15 Lunch Break 12:30-1pm: SILVER STRIKE HUNT with silver dollars, halves, quarters, & dimes, tokens for prizes & clad quarters & buffalo nickels to mix things up. ($30)* 1:30-2pm: TREASURE CHEST HUNT features all the above & treasure chests to be given out to the special token finders. The chests will have various coin & jewelry prizes inside. ($40)* *(Pre-Paid discount $5 off per hunt) 2-3pm: Prizes awarded & raffle winners announced.
